Simon's World...On Instagram

By Simon de Pury

Take a peek into the life of auctioneer, collector, and artnet News columnist Simon de Pury. Via his Instagram, he will be sharing a bit of glamour and a bit of excitement with us—whether he’s trotting the globe or on the scene closer to home.

Simon kicked off the cooler season by travelling to London, where he spotted the giant Rick Owens statue outside Selfridges, along with a Chuck Close portrait of legendary supermodel Kate Moss. He then landed in Florence and crossed paths with a picturesque Italian painter enjoying a quiet afternoon with his craft. Next was a pit stop at Massimo De Carlo gallery, where he snapped a shot of a Technicolor sculpture by Alighiero Boetti.

After a brief moment in Paris with the legendary James Turrell, who gamely posed for one of de Pury’s signature Instagram portraits, our columnist headed back to New York—but not before taking a selfie in a reflective smiley face, natch.

In New York, Simon attended the opening of Jeff Zilm’s “Comedies” at the acclaimed Journal Gallery. He also shared a few pictures from the opening of “Fire!”, a show he curated at Adam Lindemann’s uptown gallery Venus Over Manhattan. The exhibition features ceramics by 12 artists, including Dan McCarthy and Mårten Medbo, both of whom were Insta-documented in front of their works.
