Featuring works by more than forty artists, Retinal Hysteria draws its inspiration from Eye Infection, the landmark 2001–2002 exhibition presented to critical acclaim by the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
On Great Jones Street, an east side enclave between the hubs of New York City’s art world, Chelsea and Tribeca, a mob of frenetic paintings fill the walls of Adam Lindemann’s gallery Venus Over Manhattan.
The curator's current exhibition reflects on Christian Braum’s early naughties ‘Eye Infection’ with a wink, and a nod to our contemporary moment.
The show—featuring work by artists like Deborah Kass, Peter Saul, and Woody De Othello—spans Venus Over Manhattan's two gallery spaces and delves into the more unsightly spectrum of emotions.
